Agra Fort Visiting Hours

Plan Your Trip

If you are on an Agra tour, you wouldn’t want to miss the mesmerizing beauty of this enormous Fort that stands tall as a token of the valour and bravado of the rulers that reigned over the country from this very site. While the Agra Fort has two prominent entrances i.e. the Lahore Gate and the Delhi Gate, entry for visitors is only allowed from the Lahore Gate which is also known as Amar Singh Gate. While most of the Fort is accessible to the public, some of it is under the Indian army and therefore cannot be accessed by visitors.

Entry to the Agra Fort opens at sunrise and remains open till sunset so you can visit the monument anytime in the span of an entire day, all seven days a week.

We would suggest that you visit the Fort during the evening hours as the red sandstone beauty looks absolutely stunning with the golden hue of the setting sun. You may also visit the monument early in the morning when the first rays of the rising sun penetrate the fort complex and the area looks enchanting with the sound of chirping birds echoing in the background. Avoid visiting the place in the peak of summer season as the weather during this time may get a little too hot or during the monsoon season as you would face trouble exploring the expansive area accommodating the enormous fort. Winters, therefore, would be the best time to explore the fort.
