Taj Mahal Visiting Hours

Plan Your Trip

One can visit the Taj Mahal throughout the week except on a Friday as it is supposed to be a prayer day when the place remains closed. On the rest of the days, you can visit the mausoleum 30 minutes before sunrise and the monument closes 30 minutes before sunset. Nighttime view of the Taj Mahal is also provided during a full moon night and a few days before and after that as the white marbled beauty looks exquisite in the moonlight and is a sight to behold.

There are three different entrances to the Taj Mahal out of which two can be used to visit the monument, presently. Here are the timings to visit the Taj Mahal:

Day Timing

• Visiting from Western Gate- the gate is located near Saheli Burj and one can buy tickets from this entrance 1 hour before sunrise and 45 minutes before sunset.
• Visiting from Eastern Gate- tickets can be bought from the Eastern Gate 1 hour before sunrise and 45 minutes before sunset.

Note: The Southern Gate is not available for entry presently but you can use it to exit the monument.

Night Timing

Since night viewing of the Taj Mahal is allowed only on 5 days, i.e. on a full moon day and 2 days before and after that, that’s why special arrangements are made to get its ticket. For the night view of the Taj, tickets can only be bought from the office of Archaeological Survey of India 22 in Mall Road, Agra, one day prior to the date of visiting, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Visiting hours are from 08:30 pm to 12:30 am and visitors are divided into 8 batches consisting of 50 visitors in each batch. The Taj Mahal viewing duration for each batch is half an hour.
